Here We Go! Iceman: "Hi Taz! Stell Dich doch mal unseren Lesern vor!  Taz Taylor: " Hallo Iceman, und ein großes "Hallo" an die Leser von Heavy-Metal-Heaven, Ich bin Taz Taylor und wir sind hier in Berlin auf der Frühjahrstour um unser Album "Welcome To America" zu promoten, das Album ist seit dem Herbst 2006 erhältlich, wir machen eine letzte Promotour, bevor wir uns im Sommer diesen Jahres dran machen ein neues Album fertig zustellen!Iceman: "Wie bist du mit GRAHAM BONNET zusammengekommen? Taz Taylor: "Nun, ich hab eine instrumentales Album gemacht "Caffiene Racer" und als wir diesbezüglich auf Promotour waren, dachte ich mir "Auf dem nächsten Album möchte ich gern einen Sänger haben!" - GRAHAM BONNET war immer mein Lieblingssänger, weißt Du? Ich hab einfach "meine Liste abgearbeitet", ich war auf seiner Homepage, Ich hab ihm eine Email geschickt und irgendwas wird wohl richtig gewesen sein, was ich ihm geschrieben hab, denn schon zwei Tage später hat er mir zurückgeschrieben, mit seiner Telefon-Nummer! So haben wir dann telefoniert, über alles geredet, länger als ne Stunde, die Chemie hat einfach gepasst und so haben wir die Zusammenarbeit begonnen! Ich denke mal, wir beide sind zwei Engländer die in Süd-Kalifornien leben, das war wohl die "Initial-Zündung"! Iceman: "Was sind deine musikalischen Helden, Deine Vorbilder? Ich sehe da nen HENDRIX T-Shir!t? Taz Taylor: "JIMI HENDRIX ist nicht eines meiner direkten Vorbilder, ich respektiere ihn sehr, aber mein Vorbild ist ganz klar MICHAEL SCHENKER! Dann noch GARY MOORE, RANDY RHOADS, ich mag auch den alten VAN HALEN Sound! Iceman: "Was denkst Du? Früher hieß es "Rock" oder "Metal" heutzutage nennt man es "BlackMetal", "SpeedMetal", "TrashMetal", "MathMetal", "Progmetal" oder wie auch immer sich es nennt…Was denkst Du über diese ganzen Kategorien? Taz Taylor: " Ich weiß es nicht, es ist alles Musik! Für mich gibt es nur zwei Arten von Musik, gute und schlechte Musik! Wenn die Band gut ist, ist es mir egal wie man es nennt! Für meinen persönlichen Geschmack: Ich bin da eher der "Old-School" Musiker, einige die aus den modernen "Wellen" des Heavy Metal kommen, berühren mich überhaupt nicht! Weißt Du, dieser ganze runtergestimmte, völlig verzerrte Sound ist nichts für mich! Ich denke dass es einfacher ist "anders" zu sein als es ist "gut" zu sein, es ist ein anderer Weg um "wahrgenommen" zu werden, weißt Du? Jeder denkt er muss noch mal "anders sein", noch extremer, noch aggressiver, noch verzerrter, noch tiefergestimmt, diese Leute denken das ist der einzigste Weg um aus der Masse herauszustechen! In der klassischen Musik, da verschwenden die Leute keine Zeit darauf den Sound einer Geige zu verändern, sie schreiben neue Musikstücke! So, seh ich das, ich möchte dass eine Gitarre auch klingt wie eine Gitarre, niemand muss etwas noch extremer machen, erstrecht nicht, wenn es nicht mehr gut klingt, nur um "anders" zu sein!  Iceman: "Was denkst Du? Es gibt bestimmt nen Haufen Leute, die dieses Interview lesen, gucken sich das Review an und denken "Oh, da muss ich doch mal gucken wo ich das im I-Net for free bekomm!Taz Taylor: " Das nervt mich!! Ich mag diese Angewohnheit der Leute nicht, die denken nur weil es Musik ist, ist es für umsonst! Weißt Du? Wir haben nicht nur tausende Dollars in das Album gesteckt um es zu machen, wir haben auch unzählige lange Nächte in das Album investiert! Ich möchte nicht so rüberkommen, als wenn ich Musik nur des Geldes wegen mache, aber es wär schon schön mal etwas Geld zurückzubekommen! Die Leute sagen "Na, ich lad das ja nur für mich selbst runter! Ich weiss es nicht wie viele Kopien uns gestohlen wurden, Du kannst 15.000 CDs verkaufen, aber es werden Dir weitere 10.000 gestohlen! Es macht für einen Musiker keinen Unterschied ob eine Person dir Dein Album stiehlt und es an 10.000 andere weitergibt, oder ob sich 10.000 Leute das Album "Nur für mich" downloaden! In jedem Falle haben sie es uns gestohlen! Iceman: "Was is Deine Meinung über die "explodierenden Ticketpreise"?? Taz Taylor: "Es ist lächerlich! Ich verstehe es nicht, die ROLLING STONES wollen 400 haben! Mehr als 50-60 Dollars sollte so etwas nicht kosten! Iceman: "KISS werden nach Deutschland kommen und rufen 109 Euros aus!! Taz Taylor: "Das is doch auch lächerlich! Ich denke - Wenn man mehr Geld auf ner Tour verdienen will - spielt mehr Konzerte! Spielt zweimal in jeder Stadt, verkauft die Location zweimal aus, so macht man mehr Geld! Ich denk das is die absolute Gier! "Oh die ROLLING STONES kommen in die Stadt, ich leg mal 400 Dollar zur Seite! Die höchste Summe die ich mal ausgegeben hab waren 65$ für STEVE VAI, KINGS X und JOHN PETRUCCI! Iceman: "Was denkst Du über Bands, die die Spielfreude vermissen lassen, auf der Bühne stehen wie angenagelt, versuchen ihren Sound noch komplexer, noch progressiver, noch schwieriger zu machen, nur um zu zeigen wie gut sie sind? Taz Taylor: "Nun, es ist deren Art sich zu präsentieren, und wenn die Leute es mögen, dann is doch alles fein! Andere stehen eben auf Leute wie EDDIE VAN HALEN, der auf der Bühne rumspringt, es ist OK! Ich möchte niemanden dissen, für das was er macht, für das an was er glaubt! Aber ich mag keine arroganten Musiker, weißt Du? Gitarre zu spielen, das ist ein Talent, die einen haben es, die anderen eben weniger, aber das heißt doch noch lang nicht das ich mich nun als etwas "besseres" fühlen darf!! Iceman: "Was ist der Plan für die nächste Zukunft?  Taz Taylor: " Wir werden ein neues Album aufnehmen, weiterhin auf Tour gehen, für uns läuft alles gut im Moment, Graham ist zu uns gekommen, wir waren in Berlin, Wien, Prag und all die anderen Stationen dieser Tour und mir gefällt der Gedanke das es so weiter geht!Iceman: "Ok, letzte Frage, gibt es noch etwas das Du unseren Lesern sagen möchtest? Taz Taylor: "Danke an alle die unser Album mal gehört haben, dem Album eine Chance gegeben haben, wir hoffen das ihr alle eine echte CD habt und - wenn sie euch nicht gefällt - könnt ihr sie ja immer noch bei Ebay verhökern!" ;-) Greez Taz Taylor TAZ TAYLOR BAND MYSPACE [pagebreak] Here We Go! Iceman: "Hi Taz! Please introduce yourself to our readers!! Taz Taylor: "Taz Taylor: "Hi Iceman and a big Hello to the readers of HEAVY METAL HEAVEN, I'm Taz Taylor and we are here in Berlin at the spring tour, we are here to promote "Welcome to America", the Album is out now since late 2006, we do a last Promotion tour before we record a new Album, this summer!Iceman: "How did you get together with Graham Bonnet?? Taz Taylor: "Well, I did an instrumental CD, "Caffiene Racer" and when we were promoting that, I thought "On the next Album I want to have Vocals this time!" and Graham was always my favourite Singer, you know? I just started and worked down my list, I went to his website, I sent him an email and there must be something on that what I said because he wrote back, with his phone-number, 2 days later! So we talked about, at the phone for the first time, for most an hour, the chemistry was great, so we started working! I think, we are some English guys, living in Southern California that was the initial! Iceman: "What are your musical idols? I see a HENDRIX Shirt? Taz Taylor: "Jimi Hendrix is not my favourite guitar player, NO disrespect to him, but my favourite guitar player is Michael Schenker! And Gary Moore, Randy Rhoads, I like the early Van Halen stuff! Iceman: "What do you think? In the earlier years, we called it METAL, or ROCK, but today, we got "Blackmetal" "Speedmetal", "Trashmetal", "Progmetal", "Mathmetal" or however this stuff is called! What do you think about these categories? Taz Taylor: " Taz Taylor: "I don't know! It's all music! There are only two types of music - good or bad music! I think when the band is good; I don't care what they call it! For my personal taste, I'm kind of really old-school, some of the modern waves of Heavy Metal Bands; it doesn't do anything to me! You know, the down-tuned, really, really distorted stuff, it doesn't move me! I think It's easier to be different, than it is to be good! It's another way to getting noticed, you know? Everybody thinks that he has to be completely different, more extreme, more aggressive, more distorted, more down tuned, they think It's the only way to stand out! In classical music, they people don't spend time to make a violin sound more weird, they keep writing new music! That's the way I look at it, I want a guitar to sound like a guitar! No one needs to do something more extreme, even when it doesn't sounds good, just to make it different! Iceman: "What do you think, about the modern days, the internet? Because for example, people will read this interview, will read the review from "Welcome to America" and get the CD from the internet, for free! What do you think?Taz Taylor: " This bothers me! I don't like the attitude from the people who think "Oh, its just music, it should be free!" You know? Not only that we spent thousands of dollars for making the record, we also spent a lot of long nights! I don't want to sound like that I'm making music just for the money, but it would be nice to get some money back! The people say "Oh, I just downloaded it for myself" But for me It's the same if I would take your car, I don't sell it, just keep it for myself! I don't know how many times it has been stolen, you know? You can sell 15.000 copies, but another 10.000 people just stole it! It's no difference to the artist if one person takes it and sells it to 10.000 people or 10.000 people gets a download "for themselves!" - They just stole it from me! Iceman: "What do you think about the "exploding" ticket prizes? Taz Taylor: "Taz Taylor: "I think it's ridiculous! I don't understand, like The Rolling Stones - 400 (!!!) Dollars!! It should be 50-60 Dollars! Iceman: "Kiss will come to Germany and the prize is about 109 Euros! Taz Taylor: "Yeah, this is ridiculous! I think, if you want to make more money from touring - play more dates! Play two days in every city, sell the venue out twice! I think this is absolutely greedy! "The Rolling Stones are coming into town, so this is 400 Bucks!" This is ridiculous! They should play three nights in a row, so they can earn more money! The most money I spent to go to a show was 65 $! Joe Satriani, Kings X and John Petrucci! Iceman: "What do you think about bands, who are just standing on stage, like they've been "nailed to the floor", just playing their instruments, no stage-acting, just to show how good they are? Trying to make their sound more and more complex and difficult? Taz Taylor: "Well, I think this is a personal performance, it is their art and when people like it - that's fine! And when people like to see someone like Eddie Van Halen, jumping up and down, its ok! I don't want to diss someone for do what they want to do, you know? But I don't like arrogant Musicians, you know? To play a guitar is a talent, some got it, some got it less, but that don't mean that that I can think that I'm a better person than anybody! Iceman: "What is the plan for the next future?? Taz Taylor: "We will record a new Album and we will continue to tour, everything is fine at the moment, Graham worked with us, we've been to Berlin, Prag, and Vienna and all those other stations on tour and I would like to think that we continue!"t!Iceman: "Ok, final question: Is there anything left you want to tell our readers?t? Taz Taylor: "Taz Taylor: "Thanks very much for your listening, thanks for checking the album and hopefully you buy our Album and give it a try!
