BLACKMORE'S NIGHT - Candice Night - mal nachgefragt

Iceman: "Candice, I saw on YouTube that Blackmores Night performed "Smoke on the Water", Unique, great Version, but dont get me wrong, we always thought one reason for Ritchie to leave DP was that he was "sick and tired" of this song, didn't he said he will never play this song again? Or was this statement just a rumour?

Candice Night: It is the pressure of having to play it every night and doing so for 40 years. Ritchie is at his freshes when there are no pressures put on him- no expectations- that way you are always amazed and surprised at what he does.
He does put that in the set occasionally, and it is fun for him to play now. But he does it when he wants to. We just did that song again on one of our Scandinavian shows.
He also changes the set list every night so you never know what he's going to play. But he always gives it 100% so you know it will always be Blackmore brilliant no matter what he chooses to play!
Iceman: "When I look at the comments on YouTube, some people are in love with Blackmore's Night, some are still "screaming" for the "old Days"!
I think, Ritchie and Blackmore's Night could say, "Ok, lets play "Standard-Rock", make a lot of money, that's it!" But you play your own style that deserves a lot of RESPECT! What would you tell all the people who are still screaming for "more Power, more electric guitars"? ;-)

Candice Night: "I' d tell them to go see Deep Purple or one of a thousand other bands that do that- and only that. What we do is very different- it will have elements of the electric guitar in it occasionally, but not only the electric.
When Ritchie plays acoustic its amazing, hurdy gurdy- its incredible, mandola/mandolin/mandocello- brilliant. If you want to keep him in the box and only want him to play one style on one instrument- you're out of luck. Look elsewhere- you're in the wrong place.
He's having too much fun doing what he does to go back in a box. Our fans are the independent thinkers that think outside the box.
Iceman: "Ritchie is one of my favourite musicians, one of a few, when you hear him; you immediately know "THIS is Mr. Blackmore!" Doesn't matter which kind of Music he is playing, but for the fans it's also a pleasure to see Ritchie, with his old Fender, connected to the Marshall Amp, and prove that he is still able to "kill"99% of all guitar players ;-) So, I read in a magazine that David Coverdale said Jon Lord wants to get ALL Purple Members together on ONE Stage, can you tell us something about it?

Candice Night: " Ritchie went saying for a while that if his old manager wasn't involved he would consider one or 2 shows together with the other band members just for the fans, for nostalgic purposes.
But honestly, after hearing what some of those other guys have been saying about him in the press, its so petty and childish, would you want to stand on a stage next to people like that who are trashing you to anyone who would listen?
I mean, Ritchie wrote all the songs that invented DP, he wrote the most famous riff in rock history, that band still tours on all his songs and are who they are because of him, he even came up with the name of the band! They should be thanking him- but they like jealous ex wives.
He hasn't even seen any of them since 1993. And he never says anything bad about them, so who's the bigger person?
Iceman: "Secret voyage" will be released first in Germany, then Europe, and at last in America? What's the reason?

Candice Night: "That is the record companies decisions, not ours. They know which territories will be prepared and which need more time!
Iceman: What kind of music do you hear at home?

Candice Night: "Ritchie only listens to purist Renaissance or medieval or traditional folk music. Sometimes he'll listen to bands like Procul Harem or Michael Oldfield with Maggie Reilly. I listen to a variety of things. From Stevie Nicks to Sarah Brightman, Skid Row to All About Eve!
Iceman: "Who did the great Artwork for "Secret Voyage"?

Candice Night: "Ritchie found a painting in a book that was done by the artist Dore. We loved the idea of the galleon going to the moon, the mystery, the elements represented, the past going toward the future.
We sent it to a graphic arts company that I work with for Magiquest in my role as Princess Amora and Princess Candice in their theme park, this company did all the blue screen effects and graphics- and they refined the artwork and made it what you see.
Iceman: "What about the plans for the next future?

Candice Night: "Just to continue doing what we are doing. Then after 19 years we will be getting married later that year so there is a lot going on this year between that , the cd release and the movie!!
Sandy: "Is there anything left; you want to tell our readers?

Candice Night: "I also have recorded a duet with a Russian band that will be released later in the year. And my solo cd is finally finished and will be out next year!
Best wishes for you all!

Candice
